Heritage

A name borrowed from Suzhou's oldest dining house

"近水楼台先得月" — the pavilion nearest the water is first to catch the moon.

Lunar House takes its Chinese name, 得月楼, from a storied restaurant on Suzhou's Guanqian Street — one long associated with refined Jiangnan cooking and, by local legend, once praised by the Qianlong Emperor himself. That lineage of unhurried, ingredient-led cooking is what the Albany kitchen carries forward: light sauces, careful knife work, and dishes built to be shared.

Here on Oracle Drive, that heritage sits alongside an everyday neighbourhood restaurant — a spot locals return to for weeknight dinners, weekend banquets, and the private rooms tucked at the back of the house.
